How to Teach the Course

Sunrise 2nd Edition Language Arts 200 integrates grammar, spelling, and penmanship into one easy-to-use course. Each lesson begins with grammar and punctuation skills introduced in small increments. Next is review on material from the previous lesson and some of the material from earlier lessons. A daily penmanship activity is followed by practice on a weekly spelling word list.

Students new to the curriculum should take our Language Arts Diagnostic Test – (DOWNLOAD here for STUDENT and TEACHER) to ensure correct grade level placement. Teachers should closely monitor LightUnit progress, but student may do some work independently. Use Extra Practice Sheet for extra review.

The Teacher’s Guide includes daily lesson plans and student pages with answers. Appendices include alternate LightUnits tests for students who need to redo a test, a scope and sequence, spelling word lists, and creative writing and penmanship teaching suggestions.
